SugarAndCode.com is a Genesis WordPress themes marketplace, offering beautiful feminine WordPress themes. The business includes a collection of themes and landing pages, as well as a high-quality blog with helpful WordPress tutorials.
It also comes with a theme support center with extensive theme documentation and set-up guides, an email list, and all social accounts.
This Genesis WordPress themes site was getting approximately 3,400 monthly page views throughout 2019, until new SEO work was done on the site in March 2020.
Because of these SEO improvements, now the site is getting 11,000 monthly page views.

The only other expense other than hosting is Sendowl, which is $24 per month.

Q. Who would this business be good for?
This business would be ideal for someone with an interest in website design, and wants an established, passive revenue type of business selling a digital product.
Q. What sort of skills do you need?
You don’t need any special skills to run this business. But it’s an asset if you have some familiarity using and customizing WordPress themes yourself. If you don’t it can be learned, or outsourced.
Q. Do you have to be a Genesis developer?
No, you don’t need to be a developer to run this business. It would be helpful if you have some experience customizing and updating themes, but if you don’t – this can be outsourced.
Additionally, I may even be available to be your tech person and do updates for you on a project-by-project basis. We can discuss that possibility of it is of interest to you.
Q. What are the daily maintenance tasks like?
Running the actual website takes no special maintenance at all. The website is on WordPress, and is run no different than any other WordPress blog. You can expect to log in from time to time to update plugins, and publish new blog posts.
The cart is managed in SendOwl. When orders come in, SendOwl manages the payment and then delivers the theme to your customer automatically. So you don’t need to do anything.
This business includes an extensive theme documentation and setup tutorial support website. This helps eliminate most need for support tickets.
We get 2-5 support emails a month. Most of the questions we get are about things that are in the theme documentation, they just didn’t see it. So most can be resolved with a quick text reply, sharing the link to the documentation where they can see the answer.
Q. What are the expenses?
There are only 2 expenses with this business. Web hosting and SendOwl. The web hosting account will be given to you to take over. It includes all the sites, demo sites and sub domains, and renews at $120.year.
The SendOwl account will also be given to you to take over. That is the cart / checkout program to manage sales and customers. I am using the $24 per month plan on SendOwl, as it allows for the use of coupons and to have an affiliate team. If you didn’t want to use coupons, and didn’t want affiliates promoting the business, you could downgrade to the $10/month Sendowl plan.
You will also get the email list, it has 750 subscribers. As it is under 1000 subs, so you could use it on a free plan with Mailerlite.
Or you could use Flodesk and lock in unlimited subscribers for life, for $15 per month and get free enrollment in my email marketing course, with this special offer.
Plus with that Flodesk deal, you can grow the list at will, and never have to pay more. Whereas if you use Mailerlite it would be free till 1000 subs but then increase in price as your list grows and end up costing you a lot more.
